Crooked teeth can affect both the health and appearance of your smile, but traditional braces are bulky and uncomfortable.
Dr. Kenneth Coffey offers Invisalign® in Chicago, IL, as a comfortable and discreet alternative to conventional metal braces.
So why should you consider this advanced orthodontic option?
Invisalign aligners are crafted using a clear plastic material that is so discreet the people around you may not even realize you are wearing them.
Dr. Coffey can customize your Invisalign trays so they fit snugly over your teeth. In addition, the smooth material will not irritate the inside of your mouth the way that metal brackets often do.
Since Invisalign trays are removable, you can enjoy all your favorite foods without restriction. Also, it is easier to maintain your oral hygiene during treatment.
Kenneth W. Coffey, DDS, and his team are excited to provide quality dental care to patients in the Chicago area. With a comprehensive approach to overall oral health, they can build a functional foundation for a beautiful smile.

So how does Invisalign work?
Many people are reluctant to seek treatment for crooked teeth because of how clunky and noticeable traditional metal braces are. Because braces are so closely associated with teenagers, adults in particular may feel embarrassed to undergo this treatment.
Dr. Coffey offers Invisalign as a discreet orthodontic option for certain patients. Instead of metal brackets and rubber bands, the treatment aligns your teeth with a series of clear, comfortable plastic aligners that fit directly onto the teeth. Not only are they less obvious than braces, they are also removable. Although the trays must be worn at least 22 hours a day, you can still eat your favorite foods and brush your teeth without brackets getting in the way.
So what can Invisalign address?
An underbite is when the lower teeth protrude over the upper teeth.
In a smile with an overbite, the upper teeth project too far forward.
A crossbite is a condition where the upper and lower teeth are horizontally misaligned.
When the upper and lower teeth do not meet properly, it is referred to as an open bite.
Extra space between teeth can interfere with your pronunciation and oral health.
When there is not enough space in your jaw, teeth can start to twist and overlap.
Wondering whether you qualify for Invisalign?
Teens and adults often choose Invisalign because they want to straighten their teeth discreetly.
Achieving your goals with Invisalign requires you to commit to wearing the aligners at least 20 to 22 hours each day.
If you have a more severe misalignment, Dr. Coffey may recommend a traditional orthodontic treatment, such as braces.
Trying to decide between Invisalign and braces?
In most cases, straightening your smile with Invisalign costs about the same as braces. There is also a good chance your dental insurance will cover at least a portion of the cost for Invisalign.
For some patients, Invisalign achieves results more quickly, which can save money overall. However, the final price of treatment will depend on your needs and goals.
A number of factors contribute to the overall cost, including the length of treatment, number of office visits, and any lost trays. This is an important aspect of treatment to keep in mind: because trays are removable, it is very easy to misplace them or forget to put them back in. Consequently, you can inadvertently extend the length of your treatment, as well as the overall cost.

SmartTrack is the material used to create Invisalign trays. It provides several advantages, including:
We are proud to offer our patients the finest orthodontic solutions.
Your doctor will conduct a thorough examination of your bite and make impressions which will be sent to an Invisalign laboratory where technicians will create your custom aligners.
Once you receive your first set of aligners, you will wear them on a daily basis for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. You will switch to the next set of aligners about every two weeks.
Approximately every four to six weeks, you will visit your doctor for a checkup to evaluate your progress and ensure you are on track. The typical treatment timeline is about 12 to 18 months.
After your Invisalign treatment is complete, you will need to wear a retainer. While it is often recommended that you continue using a retainer for the rest of your life, you typically only need to wear it at night unless otherwise instructed. In addition to wearing your retainer as directed, you should ensure that you attend bi-annual visits so the doctor can monitor your bite and address any issues in the earliest stages possible. At home, you need to maintain proper oral hygiene including brushing your teeth twice and flossing once per day.
Orthodontics can dramatically transform your smile...
Clear aligners can make oral hygiene easier, improve your oral health, and boost your self-confidence.
After completing orthodontic treatment, many patients find that they are able to brush and floss their teeth much more effectively, reducing their risk of cavities and other dental issues.
Patients at our Chicago dental office also report that their newly straightened smiles give them a newfound sense of self-confidence in their relationships, careers, and other areas of their life.
When considering clear aligners, why choose us over other dentists?
Excellent doctors and staff that are very professional, courteous and friendly. They clearly explain the procedures involved and the follow up required. Also, they are pro active in finding the root cause of any dental problems and what is necessary for corrective action.
