Types of Braces

Metal:

Metal brackets are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. The brackets are typically made of high-grade stainless steel and other metals. Metal brackets are noticeable in your smile; however, you can customize your smile with brackets by using colored elastics.

Clear:

Clear brackets are typically made of a ceramic material that camouflages with your teeth. Clear brackets still require a metal wire for teeth movement. Although they are not completely invisible, they are less noticeable than metal brackets. Metal brackets and clear brackets work in the same manner for moving your teeth.

How does it work?

The brackets are glued to the teeth in specific locations for appropriate movement. Once all brackets are glued to the teeth an arch wire (a thin piece of metal in the shape of a U) is threaded through each bracket. Then elastics are placed over each bracket holding everything in place. You will be given the option of adding colored or clear elastics at each visit.
